This rate fits entirely under the area's tax-free limit, so the agency decides the split. Ask for the taxable hourly rate before you accept.
A low taxable hourly rate means lower overtime, holiday and missed-shift pay, and smaller 401(k) contributions. Ask what overtime pays.
Tax-free stipends generally require a tax home you keep paying for while you travel. Ask a tax professional about your situation.
